How to Use This Resource

The Competencies provide foundational knowledge about the relationship between public health programs and health outcomes among people with disabilities, and are primarily designed for professionals already working in the public health field but can also be used for public health workforce training.

Practitioners may use this resource to understand which competencies are needed to enhance disability inclusion skills among staff engaged in practice-based public health efforts. The Competencies can also be embedded into existing public health curricula and training programs. The Competencies fit seamlessly within the larger domains of the core public health functions – Assessment, Policy Development and Assurance.
